VO 2 is the most common thermal-induced metal–insulator transition (MIT) material, which is characterized by a subtle and reversible structural transformation from VO 2 (M) to VO 2 (R) at the critical temperature (τ c) of ~68 ☌ (“M” and “R” are abbreviations for monoclinic and rutile, respectively). VO 2 exhibits numerous polymorphs and thus it is essential to control the growth of specific monoclinic VO 2 (M) and rutile VO 2 (R) phases.
